Bernadette Hurst
Bernadette Hurst became the Asst Chief Executive of the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP) on the 1st February 2009. The NWIEP is a member led partnership, aimed at securing continuous improvement in the public sector throughout the North West.
Immediately prior to this role, she was Director of Cheshire and Warrington Improvement and Efficiency Partnership and, as such, led the development of a brand new sub-regional strategic partnership as part of the new performance framework for Local Government and its partners.
For a number of years Bernadette has managed highly complex multi-disciplinary teams whose strength lies in the ability to support improved joined-up working and general cross sector community awareness. This has included a considerable period of time as Assistant Chief Executive within Local Government.
Bernadette has also spent several years as part of a team seconded to central Government providing advice and support to all Authorities in the North West around the Government’s modernisation agenda. Her work has received national recognition by the Local Government Information Unit, the Institute for Public Policy and Research, the Merseyside Observatory for Social Inclusion, the IDeA and a number of universities.
Bernadette and her family live in Staffordshire. In her leisure time, she acts as chauffeur, physio and sometimes referee! for her husband and 3 young children who are all keen football fans and players. She is also doing her dissertation for her MPA (Masters in Public Administration).
